Questions
Can Saturn open a folder of Markdown I already have?
Yes. Saturn opens any folder of Markdown as it is, reading its frontmatter, [[wiki-links]], tags and tasks, and changes nothing on disk until you edit a note.
Where does Saturn store my notes?
Saturn keeps every note as a plain Markdown file in a folder you choose: by default one in your iCloud Drive, which syncs it to your other Macs. Other apps can open, edit or back up those files while Saturn runs, and Saturn picks up their changes within about a second.
What happens when the Saturn trial ends?
When the Saturn trial ends, Saturn turns read-only instead of locking you out. Every note stays open, searchable, exportable and copyable, and changes wait until you buy. The trial is the whole app for 14 days, with no card and no account, and your notes stay plain Markdown files in your own folder either way.
Is Saturn private?
Yes. Saturn has no analytics or telemetry, and it never uploads your notes; an AI assistant sees them only if you connect one. A crash report stays on your Mac unless you choose to email it. Saturn goes online only to check for updates and to load the pages you save as links, a map link’s place coming from Apple Maps.
Does Saturn work with Claude and other AI assistants?
Yes. Saturn’s built-in MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and other assistants read, write and organize your notes; connect one in Settings › Assistants. Saturn asks your permission before each one connects, can keep it read-only, and never lets it delete a note.
Is there a Saturn browser extension?
Yes. Saturn for Chrome, free in the Chrome Web Store, saves the page you’re on, a passage, a link or a picture into Saturn on your Mac in one click. It works in Chrome, Arc, Dia, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi and Opera, and talks only to Saturn on your Mac: no account and no server.
I lost my Saturn licence. How do I get it back?
You can usually restore a lost Saturn licence yourself. Open Saturn on a Mac signed in to the same iCloud account and it arrives with your notes, or open the licence file from your purchase email in Settings › Licence › Open Licence File…, and if neither works, write to help@saturnnotes.com from the address you bought with and we’ll reissue it.
